WHAT IS A SPLIT: Your student gets the opportunity to be in a split class this fall. A split is when two grade levels share the same room and teacher. This year our split will consist of half 4th grade and half 5th grade. Each student will get their grade level standards and participate in grade level opportunities (e.g. 4th grade recorders, 5th grade band and orchestra). We also have the privilege of having a student teacher this fall. His name is Ryan Robertson and he is attending Central Washington Uuniversity. BACKGROUND: I am starting my 14th year in education. I have also taught 3rd grade and was a specialist for a couple of years. I have my Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from Wayne State College in Nebraska, where I also received my bachelors degree in elementary education. While at Wayne State, I ran cross country and track. I grew up in a small town in Nebraska, and moved to Washington State 13 years ago for an adventure, and fell in love with western Washington.
