Professional Biography

I began teaching in 1982.  I have taught kindergarten, 1st grade, 3rd grade and a multi-aged group of 1st-3rd graders with 2 other teachers.  My absolute favorite grade level is kindergarten!  I earned my teaching degree through WSU and my Masters of Education in Creative Arts through Leslie University.

On a personal note, my husband Mark (also known as MR. Bunda to the students--that is quite confusing for some of them) often comes into our classroom with his guitar or ukulele to teach the kids Hawaiian songs and info about the Hawaiian Islands where he grew up.

I have two grown children.  My son lives in Olympia and is getting married in April.  I'm so excited!
My daughter and her husband live in Spokane.  They recently had their 2nd child.  I love being a Nana!  Your kids will see many pictures and hear many stories about them!

A few years ago I wrote and published a childrens' book named Tippy.  It is about a little kitten who learns that he doesn't need to be like anyone else and that he is special just the way he is!  It is available to check out in our school library and Timberland Library too!

I'm looking forward to a wonderful year!  I believe that learning involves not only the academics, but also learning compassion and caring for others, and helping students to see that they are special and unique just the way they are!
